Award-winning broadcast journalist Lily Mohammed has built a career defined by purpose, compassion, and impact. Her work goes beyond headlines, focusing on amplifying the voices of vulnerable communities that often go unheard. Through journalism, advocacy, and philanthropy, she continues to drive positive social change across Ghana.
Humble Beginnings and Strong Roots
Born on June 14 in Takoradi, in Ghana’s Western Region, Lily draws strength from her diverse cultural background, with roots spanning both northern and southern Ghana. As the eldest of five children, she embraced leadership and responsibility early, values that continue to shape her professional and humanitarian pursuits.
Education That Shaped a Communicator
Lily’s passion for storytelling began at Fijai Senior High School, where she studied visual arts and served as Quaye House Prefect. She later earned a Diploma in Journalism from Creativeland School of Film and Media Arts, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from the Africa University College of Communication. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Governance at GIMPA, strengthening her understanding of leadership and public policy.
A Distinguished Media Career
With over a decade of experience, Lily started her media journey at Metro TV Ghana as a reporter. She steadily rose to become a senior news anchor, producer, and host, notably on the magazine show Morning Ride. In 2019, she joined Class Media Group, where she discovered her passion for radio while hosting 5o5 on Class FM.
In 2020, she moved to the EIB Network, where she currently anchors prime-time news on television and radio. She also co-hosts Starr Today and GH Today, and leads the lifestyle program Lifestales.
Philanthropy and Social Impact
Beyond broadcasting, Lily remains deeply committed to community development. She founded a foundation dedicated to supporting young women and girls, particularly from Northern Ghana. In 2019, the foundation organized a major conference highlighting the challenges faced by female head porters. She also co-founded Beauty CodeGh, a wellness spa promoting self-care and empowerment.

Lily Mohammed’s excellence has earned her multiple accolades, including FOKLEX TV Newscaster of the Year (2021, 2022), Female TV Host of the Year (2021), Female Newscaster of the Year at the Ghana Media Personality Awards (2021), and Impactful Woman of the Year (2023).
