The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has officially debunked a viral report claiming that approximately 60% of applicants in the ongoing military recruitment exercise tested positive for HIV.
In a press release issued on Sunday, January 25, 2026, the GAF Department of Public Relations labeled the publication as “fake news,” urging the general public to disregard the information in its entirety.
The statement, signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director General of Public Relations, clarified that the medical screening process for the 2025/2026 recruitment cycle is still in progress.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the publication is FAKE NEWS and should be ignored by all. The medical process is ongoing and no results have been released or declared as at now,” the release stated.
The military high command expressed concern over the “mischievous” nature of the story and indicated that efforts are underway to track down the individuals responsible for creating and spreading the misinformation.
The GAF also issued a stern warning to media practitioners, content creators, and social media influencers (bloggers/vloggers), advising them to be circumspect and verify their facts with official sources before going to press.
