Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) has urged stakeholders in teacher education to negotiate with telecommunication companies to reduce the cost of data bundle for teacher trainees in the midst of covid-19.
TTAG who made the appeal at its 25th General Assembly meeting also said the telcos after considering the prices of the data bundle should ensure proper network coverages on the campuses of Colleges of Education.
According to the Association in a statement copied to Educationweb.com.gh, poor network connectivity in some part of the country sometimes adversely affect some students from fully participating in the virtual learning.
“Even though the online teaching and learning in Colleges of Education is said to inculcate in teacher trainees but the high cost of data bundle for the online lectures is making studies difficult,” TTAG stated in the release.
The petition comes after the Ministry of Education amid the outbreak of the unexpected novel coronavirus pandemic introduced online teaching and learning in the various tertiary institutions including colleges of Education.
