SIM re-registration illegal and won’t solve any Ghanaian problems – Sam George

The re-registration of SIM cards is unlawful, according to Ningo-Prampram MP Samuel George.

He feels that extending the deadline for SIM card registration from March 31 to July 31 would not alleviate the issues.

While he appreciated the extension, he said he will contest the registration process’ legitimacy.

“This extension will buy time but not solve the issue,” Sam Goerge stated on TV3. Given the problem’s scale, the expansion is insufficient. We will now proceed to the solution of this issue.”

“Now that we have the extension, we will contest the validity of the proceedings, which is our next course of action. “We’re not arguing SIM registration is unlawful; we’re saying the Minister’s process and technique via the NCA is illegal,” he continued.

“As of 17 March, 14,091,542 SIM cards have been connected to the Ghana card,” the government declared on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.

“It is apparent that the deadline for completing the registration of the remaining active SIM cards cannot be reached,” the ministry stated in a statement.

Officials said it would take longer to update the SIM registration app for diplomats while a self-service SIM registration app for Ghanaians living abroad is being created.
