Race For Supremacy: 50 Aspirants Shortlisted To Contest NPP’s National Executive Positions

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) election committee has shortlisted a number of fifty (50) aspirants vying to be voted to ascend the party’s soon to be vacant eight (8) national executive positions prior to the country’s 2024 general elections, Africanewsarenagh.com can confirm.

These eight (8) positions include the National Chairmanship seat, the National Vice Chairmanship position, the National General Secretary position, the National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Treasurer and the National Nasara Coordinator.

The party as at last week opened it’s door for aspirants to pick-up their nomination forms at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

The issued forms is in respect to the aspirant’s position vying for together with some vital details the party will need to know of the individual going forward, which will play a crucial role during the slated date for vetting.

Nomination fee for these already acquired nomination forms according to the party’s earlier published communique costed GHS 20,000 for the National Chairman position, GHS 15,000 for the Vice Chairperson position, and GHS10,000 for the General Secretary position. As remaining positions costed aspirants GHS 8,000 each.

Meanwhile, the date set to elect the party’s new national executives is slated for July 14 to July 16,2022.

The highly anticipated elections will be supervised by the party’s National Elections Committee, which will comprise of three reps appointed by the National Executive Committee, the Chairman of the National Council of Elders, the Director of Research and Elections, two elderly women appointed by the National Executive Committee, and the Director of IT.

Deadline date for the submission of these forms is said to be Tuesday, 14th June,2022.

The chairmanship position as per the list is keenly contested by some seven (7) abled party members which has Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, Stephen Kwabena Boateng and Sammy Crabbe all inclusive. As the General Secretary seat is as well in a tag-of-war contestion by six (6) individuals including incumbent Mr. John Boadu.

Mr. McJewells Annan, the country’s longest serving ombudsman in parliament is also in contention this time around, vying to be voted in as the party’s Vice Chairman (2nd), having gathered vast experience from his work at the parliament for over 20years now.

Moreover, vetting for these aspirants according to a reliable source is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, June 15 to Friday, June 17,2020.
