The following are the key items for consideration towards the upcoming Voters’ Registration.
ACTIVITIES OF THE EC
The Registration Duration (RD)
▪️The EC will use 38 days for the registration. The exercise will commence on 30th. June and end on 6th. August, 2020.
The Registration Requirements (RR)
▪️Per the CI 126, a registrant requires any of the following:
1. Passport
2. NIA card
3. Two guarantors who have already registered and have their voters ID card.
The Registration Method (RM)
▪️The EC will adopt the Cluster method. A cluster system is where several polling stations are grouped as one and allocated to a particular Registration Team.
▪️With regard to this exercise, a cluster will comprise of a number of polling stations.
The Registration Centers (RC)
▪️A Registration Centre is the polling station where the registration exercise will take place.
▪️Based on the use of the Cluster system, there is going to be 6 days of registration in each phase.
The Registration Team (RT)
▪️A Registration Team is a set of EC Officials assigned to a registration machine within a particular cluster.
▪️In all, there will be Registration Teams attending to all the Registration Centers simultaneously.
▪️Each Registration Team will include 6 EC Officials
The Registration Period (RP)
▪️The Registration Period will have *5 phases.*
▪️A phase simply means the period that a RT will spend at a particular RC before moving to another one.
▪️Each phase consists of 6 days for registration.
▪️The 7th day will be reserved for preparation towards the next phase.
