The Ghana Police Service has announced that they have arrested one and gunned down two out of the five armed men who recently robbed passengers of a bus in the Western region and asked the victims to pray for them.
On February 21, 2022, five armed robbers wearing masks with guns and other weapons attacked over 40 passengers onboard a VIP bus with registration number GT 5795-16 robbing them of their money and other valuables.
The bus was traveling from Takoradi in the Western Region to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region when it was on the way.
According to the robbers, they were not happy with what they’ve done to them but has been compelled to do so at the expense of their lives and valuables because the general hardship in the country is unbearable.
“After the robbery, they asked us to pray for them because it was not their will to stop vehicles on the highway and rob passengers of their belongings but the system has compelled them to do so,” Akua, a victim told Takoradi-based Connect FM.
The law enforcement agency announced this on its Facebook page on Wednesday with a promise to furnish the public with further details later.
According to the service, the arrested person is in its custody helping with investigations.
The suspects reportedly engaged the officers in a shootout before and as a result, had two of them losing their lives.
