Nursing Training Colleges Admission Postponed AGAIN Until January 2022

The Ministry of Health has postponed Nursing Training Colleges admission for freshers until January 2022.

In a letter dated 15th September 2021 and signed by Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari, the Chief Director broke the news on behalf of the Minister.

The MoH indicated that the postponement of the reopening for the start of the new academic year was due to the need for social distancing issues. The letter further indicated that it was also to help continuing students have the needed space to prepare for their final examination (The Nursing and Midwifery Council Examination) scheduled for December 2021.

It furthered that the Ministry of Education has approved the Nursing Training Colleges Admission postponement and further approved a new date for reopening and the new academic year as follows.

The 2021/2022 Academic year (First Semester) would be 16 weeks and will begin on 10th January and End on May 2022. This means that first-year students waiting for the Nursing Training College Admission lists would have to wait a bit longer to know their admission status and start their training as future health workers.

This explains why some schools haven’t sent their admission letters yet. Students will break for the Christmas vacation/Practicum/Psychiatric Affiliation between 10th May and 31st July 2022.

The Nursing Training Colleges will commence the second semester of the 2022 Academic from 6th August to November 2022. The second semester is also a 16 weeks calendar whiles the long vacation will be from 29th November 2022 to 9th January 2023.

The MoH has therefore directed all training colleges and their heads to comply with the new directive
