No Tolls Will Be Collected On All Public Roads: Ken Ofori Atta Boldly Reveals At Parliament

Today, the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta made an appearance at Parliament to present the 2022 budget. He made mention of the achievements of this government prior to the COVID year in reviving the economy which they inherited from Mahama. He further disclosed that although COVID had affected the economy, Nana Addo and his government are committed to reviving the economy.

He spoke about how the country was planning on mobilizing revenue. One thing which he talked about was the road tolls which are collected on the roads. He made a shocking revelation on the decision that this government has taken on this major source of revenue.

“We want to do more roads and this budget will cater for this. That is why most all governments maintain and impose tolls on public roads for road construction and maintenance. However, the tolling centres are becoming a point of congestion and market centre which lengthens travel time and has impacted negatively on the economy. It also leads to pollution.”, he explained

He boldly declared that effective from today, no tolls will be collected on all public roads.
