“NDC Government Made ’Okada’ Illegal in 2012, Don’t Trust Them With Legalizing It” Mr Peter Manu fires.
Mr Mac Manu has charged Ghanaians not to trust the former President when he talks about legalizing ‘okada’.
The Campaign Strategist of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Peter Manu has charge Ghanaian Okada riders to discard Mahama’s promises.
Mr Mac Manu disclosed that the former President is being dishonest with the promise.
In addition, his government is to blame for making Okada Illegal in this country, he added.
He addressed the media at the sidelines of an inaugural ceremony for campaign coordinators for election 2020 in the Western Region.
Moving on, he added that the impression as created by John Mahama is clearly a double standard to the very issue of commercialising transportation on motorcycles.
NDC Government Made ’Okada’ Illegal in 2012, Don’t Trust Them With Legalizing It – Mac Manu
“Okada… we will restore it but they made it illegal in 2012 and you were in government. So he’s very inconsistent,” Mr Manu fired.
Hypeghnewsroom can confirm that he, however, didn’t state the position of the governing party on the matter.
For several years calls have been mounted on government to legalise ‘Okada’ operations in Ghana to support transportation especially in heavy traffic areas and rural areas.
The Parliament of Ghana has not amended the Section 128 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 2012, which states that “The licensing authority shall not register a motorcycle to carry a fare paying passenger”.
This makes the use of motorbikes and tricycles for commercial purposes illegal in the country.
But the populace can attest to the fact that it has become the new source of employment for many youth.
