MoH to pay rotation allowances to 4,563 diploma nurses, midwives

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has been granted permission to pay rotation allowances to 4,563 diploma nurses and midwives who have completed their licencing exams and started 1-year mandatory rotation from February 1, 2021.

The Finance Ministry in a statement to the Health Ministry and copied to EducationWeb.com.gh said emoluments of the interns should be charged against the compensation of employees vote of the MoH in the 2021 annual estimates.

“The Chief Director at the Ministry of Health is to ensure that the Health Interns have their documents processed in time and placed on the mechanized payroll to enable Controller and Accountant General Department effect payment of their rotation allowances of 871.000 per month,” the statement said.

The Controller and Accountant General Department according to the Finance Ministry is requested to effect the payment of their salaries and make an appropriate deduction of social security and income tax to SSNIT and the domestic tax division of Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) respectively.

The effective date of rotation of the diploma nurses and midwives the Ministry said should not be earlier than February 1, 2021, and terminates at the end of January 22, 2021
