Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States of America, arrived at KIA with second gentleman Douglass Emhoff and other American officials.
Kamala Harris starts her nine-day trip in Ghana today before moving on to Tanzania and Zambia. This marks her first visit to the continent since becoming Vice President.
The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia welcomed them upon their arrival to applause and a customary ensemble.
Speaking at the KIA, Veep Kamala Harris emphasized her commitment to facilitating conversations that will enhance and spur opportunities across many facets of the continent.
During this tour, she placed a special emphasis on maintaining ongoing efforts to address climate change and strengthen international relations.
She also made a suggestion that meetings will be held with H.E. Akufo Addo, Dr. Bawumia, Mahama, and Samira Bawumia in order to expand on earlier discussions to strengthen democracy and good governance.
“I intend to do work focused on boosting investment, facilitating growth, and creating opportunities touching various areas of economic empowerment of women and girls, empowerment of youth entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, and supporting work done to increase food security and adaptation to the effects of the climate crisis.”
