The Government of Ghana (GoG) has declared Saturday, 6th March 2021 which marks Independence Day as a statutory public holiday, the Akufo-Addo’s Representative at Interior Ministry, Ambrose Dery has announced.

The Ministry of Interior in a blog post sighted by Enfexgh.com indicated Monday 8th March, 2021 is also a holiday in view of the fact that 6th March 2021 falls on a Saturday.

“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601) declared Monday, 8th March 2021 as a Public Holiday,” the Interior Ministry stated in the post.

Members of the general public are urged to observed the stated dates as a public holiday throughout the country.

This year’s Independence Day parade has been suspended amid the outbreak of the locally transmitted coronavirus pandemic.
