Education Minister Yaw Adutwum has denied damaging Ghana’s education industry. He claims he won’t leave the US to undermine the school system in his own nation.
Adutwum said this during the Information Ministry’s Meet The Press event.
He admits he may stomp on toes and make blunders, but he never intends to damage Ghana’s education industry.
People ask what he’s doing; I reply what am I doing? We work because we have to work; I quit my job in America to come to Ghana and play; I left my schools with over 200 personnel to come and play? I’m here to screw up education?
If I can enhance America’s school system, I will do it every day. So I may make errors, but we want to modify this system. The system is broken and I shall tread on toes,” he remarked.
The second year in office has been hampered by teacher strikes, the most notable being UTAG, now in its third week.
UTAG has said that they would not return to the classrooms unless their demands are addressed.
