Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah’s penalty shootouts heroics helps Linares Deportivo advance in Copa del Rey

Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah was the hero of the night as Linares Deportivo defeated Gimnastic on penalties to advance to the second round of the Spanish Copa del Rey.

The experienced shot stopper save two penalties as Linares progressed 6-5 on penalties on Wednesday night.

Brimah had been outstanding throughout the game, making crucial saves to prevent the visitors from scoring as the game ended goalless.

But his sharpness in the shootouts gave the third tier side the edge over their opponents.

The ex-Black Stars goalie had saved Gimnastic’s second penalty by Aythami Artiles but Linares’ Fernando Copete Vallina missed to get the visitors back into the game.

The moment of glory came when the Ghanaian keeper saved Javier Ribelles Alfonso’s spot kick.

Linares Deportivo re-signed Razak Brimah to help rescue their early season wobbles and the ex-Cordoba goalie seems to have sparked life back into the team.
