Pope Benedict XVI is dead. According to the reports, the Pope died at his Vatican residence almost a decade after he stood down as Pope because of his ailing Health.
Benedict XVI was 95 at the time of his death. Pope Benedict led the Catholic Church for eight years before he resigned.
He became the first Pope to resign since Gregory XII in 1415. Benedict spent his final years at the Mater Ecclesiae monastery within the walls of the Vatican.
