Queens of Africa summit in GhanaOn Friday 17th March, 2023, the Holistic Migration Consult based in Accra, Ghana in fraternal collaboration with the National Ghana Parade Council and Keymama Foundation based in the New York City, USA and the Council for Ga-Dangme Divisional Chiefs and Queen Mothers held the maiden edition of the Queens of Africa Summit in Accra, under the theme: cultivating trans-generational mindset in African Queens for development.

The event was well attended, colourful, insightful and very successful.

The summit was organized purposely to bring Queen Mothers from the Greater Accra, Savannah, Ashanti, Eastern, Central and Volta regions of Ghana and Liberia for effective capacity building and networking.

The event was designed as a precursor to the “Queens of Africa USA” to be held in New York City, between 29th July and 5th August, 2023 where Queens participating from Africa will have unique opportunities to meet other Queens living in America, diplomats, diaspora social networks, heads of educational institutions and business/investments groups.

The organizers would like to take this unique opportunity to express their profound gratitude to the facilitators of the summit including Rev. Esther Maseyor Azu of the Methodist Church, Victory Society of Madina West in Accra, Nana Esi Ninsin VIII, Nifahemaa of Ekumfi Traditional Area and Hon. Francis Opai Tetteh, Country Director, World Conference of Mayors, Ghana and the Lead Consultant at the Holistic Migration Consult for the enlightening presentations and discussions.

The organizers are equally grateful to some male leaders who came around in total solidarity and support for the Queens including Nene Angmor Owuoadjao II, President of the Council for Ga-Dangme Divisional Chiefs and Queen Mothers, Rev. Lawrence Kwadwo Lafia Amartey, Director of Religious and Cultural Affairs and at the Council for Ga-Dangme Divisional Chiefs and Queen Mothers, Mr. Kannortey Onyameh, Founder and President, Global Concrete Institute and Papa Fiagli Degbor of Atiavi, Hon. Schandorf, Deputy Coordinating Director, Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly.

We cannot be ungrateful for the immense contributions of Princess Leop Abui Tamakloe – King/Queen Maker of the Royal Tamakloe House in Whuti, Ms. Gloria Dede Kwao, Chief Executive Officer of Glowax Education Consult and Ms. Tracy Mensah, the event caterer and our friends from the various media houses in Ghana and abroad including; TV3, Home Base TV, Adoa TV, Blogger Emmanuel Bodi and the Keymama Show in New York.

The African Queens who participated in the programme were really grateful to the organizers for the flagship and topnotch event. They made a passionate request for quarterly hosting of such and enlightening summit rather than being an annual event.

They also solicited support of the organizers and the general public to help to discourage the youth from abusing the royal regalia especially during traditional marriages in Ghana. “If the youth are permitted to wear military or police uniforms at will then they cannot do same to royal regalia too,” the Queen mothers said.

The Queens also pleaded with their male counterparts to support and encourage them so become trans-generational Queens where their shining legacies will live on after they have been called to eternal rest.Francis Opai TettehCountry DirectorWorld Conference of Mayors, Ghana+233 553018442
