According to some verifiable Nigerian websites, a magistrate judge in Kano has ordered one Isyaku Shu’aibu to kill his rooster, which is known for making loud crows.
Two of the man’s neighbours complained to the court, claiming that the persistent crowing of the rooster disturbs their sleep and the tranquillity of the neighbourhood.
Consequently, Magistrate Halima Wali ordered Shu’aibu to kill his fowl on Friday, April 7, 2023, in a decision on Tuesday, April 4. Yusuf Muhammed, a plaintiff from Ja’en quarters, claimed in court that the rooster’s constant crowing violated his right to a sound night’s slumber.
Shu’aibu asked the court to postpone the verdict until Friday while acknowledging that his rooster has a propensity for crowing noisily.
The complainants’ case was successful in persuading the judge, who ordered that the cock be caged and killed on April 7th.
