Chelsea’s Roman Abramovich banned from UK residence due to links with the Russian gov’t

According to reports on Thursday, Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea Football Club, has been prohibited from staying in Britain.

On Thursday, Russia declared its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Abramovich, 55, hasn’t visited Chelsea’s home stadium in months.

Abramovich filed for a British Tier 1 investment visa in 2018, but withdrew it when ties to the Russian government were discovered.

According to the Daily Mail, Abramovich knows Russian President Vladimir Putin. He denies the charge.

In 2018, Abramovich discovered a way around the system by becoming an Israeli citizen, allowing him to stay in the UK for up to six months.

While Abramovich’s net worth is unknown, it is estimated to be above £8.4 billion (R172 billion).

Even if Abramovich isn’t being targeted, persons close to the Russian government will be.

“We have a lengthy list of complicit Russian leaders,” Truss stated.

“Should Russia refuse to withdraw its soldiers, we may attack additional banks, elites, and significant enterprises.

“This is about putting pain on Putin and slowly undermining the Russian economic structure, targeting Putin’s friends. We must make it as unpleasant as possible.”

Abramovich owns Millhouse LLC, which owns Chelsea since June 2003. Abramovich’s big monetary investment made the club a global football superpower.

Chelsea has won 18 major trophies since Abramovich joined, including the European Champions League twice, the English Premier League five times, and the FA Cup five times.
