Beyonce: The President’s Daughter

Beyonce: The President’s Daughter

Raj Johnson is a man torn between two women–Beyonce’ [sic], the wealthy president’s daughter, and Ciara, a nightclub singer.

As the movie begins, Beyonce’ arrives home to her gated mansion with a small security detail. She relaxes, changes her outfit, and returns to the main living space. One of her friends enters the house, and the two begin to chat about Beyonce”s political goals. Beyonce’ is frustrated by her reliance upon her father, the president, and his influence. Her friend, herself the daughter of the speaker of the parliament, encourages her and cautions that she will need more than perseverance to succeed at politics, as the field has become wracked with blackmail. Beyonce’ then reveals that she has already won the parliamentary election and been successfully elected.

Meanwhile, Ciara, a young woman, is walking through her village when she witnesses a man getting shot. The criminal drives away and after a split second of hesitation, she rushes to the victim’s aid. She asks him if he’s all right, then rushes off to get a car to take the man to the hospital. Upon arrival, however, she is told that she needs to present a police report before the hospital will treat him. She is frustrated, as he is in immense pain and faces the immediate danger of dying, but runs off to the police station. The police are unhelpful, insisting that she bring the victim to them so that they can take a statement. They also ask where the criminals went, which frustrates Ciara. The police threaten to detain her for her emotional outburst, and she returns, disappointed, to the hospital.

Before she arrives, a nurse remarks to the supervisor that the man must be treated immediately. When Ciara shows up empty-handed, the supervisor berates her for failing to procure the report. Ciara accuses the woman of murder, as she is refusing to treat the man; she responds by demanding Ciara and the victim leave the premises. The nurse who earlier expressed concern gives Ciara the address of a pharmacy where the man will be treated.

Back at Beyonce”s mansion, she and her friends are celebrating her new-found status. Beyonce’ declares that she is “not a chicken-hearted person.”

Ciara, meanwhile, drops the victim off at the pharmacy and heads to his house. There, she finds his mother and informs her of the attack. The two drive to the pharmacy.

Three weeks later, the man–Raj Johnson–talks with his mother and sister. He accuses his mother for failing to procure Ciara’s address or phone number. Later, he visits the site of the accident and is seen asking around for information on his savior. He is unsuccessful.

That evening, he is getting ready to go to bed when one of his friends calls and convinces him to go to a nightclub. There, he sees a beautiful nightclub singer and realizes she is the woman who saved his life. He is concerned because she seems to be a call girl. He meets her behind the building and tells her how he tried to track her down, thanking her for saving his life. Ciara explains that she is a singer, not a call girl, and Raj professes her love for her.

The next day, Ciara introduces Raj and his friend to her sister. The four head into Ciara’s house.

Later on, Beyonce’ goes to the supermarket. She notices Raj, who is also browsing, and strikes up a conversation. He recognizes her as the president’s daughter, though he mentions he is not particularly political. Beyonce’ pays for his bill and gives him her number, then takes him to her mansion. She asks Raj what his “type” is–conservative, quiet, introverted–and he tells her that even though she doesn’t “fall in that category” she’s very beautiful and intelligent regardless.

Raj and Ciara then go shopping, trying on a variety of clothes. That night, they make love; Ciara reveals that she is a virgin. They profess their love for each other.

The next morning, Beyonce’ is eating with Raj and his family for unclear reasons. She gives Raj’s mother five thousand dollars and his sister one thousand as a present, and then she and Raj head back to her house. She professes her intense affection for Raj, who is made uncomfortable by her admission. He asks for time to process the information. The two sit by her fountain and talk, and Beyonce’ asks that he be emotionally receptive to her. Raj compliments her sense of “feminine poise,” and the two make love inside.

Later, Ciara leaves her house to discover that Raj has brought her a new car. He cracks a bottle of champagne and christens the car with it, but when he reveals that he procured the money from Beyonce’ Ciara demands he take it back. Raj tells her that he feels their relationship is not threatened by the president’s daughter, and the couple go for a ride.

Beyonce’, meanwhile, relaxes by the pool with her friends. She tells them how she has found love, though her friends are cautious. They urge her to make sure that he reciprocates her affection.

Beyonce’ goes to visit Raj’s mother, who tells Beyonce’ of her financial troubles. Beyonce’ offers to take care of it, and is told she’d make a good daughter-in-law. Raj enters with Ciara and his friend, introducing her as his fiancée. Beyonce’, who was already cold towards Ciara, is stunned by this language and demands to talk to Raj. Ciara sits down, but Raj’s family refuse to talk to her and so she goes to wait outside.

She walks in on Raj and Beyonce’ fighting. Beyonce’ is upset because she feels Raj has used her, and slaps him. Ciara, overhearing that Raj slept with Beyonce’, is also angry at him.

Inside, Raj fills in his family on what happened. His mother charges that he does not know what he really wants, and he becomes defensive and storms off. Raj’s mother asks his friend to talk to him, and declares that she never wishes to see Ciara again.

Beyonce”s friends, meanwhile, are yet again relaxing by the pool. Beyonce’ returns and retreats into her home, wishing to be alone. Her friends discuss her situation, expressing disbelief that Raj is even worth Beyonce”s time. They express hope that the experience will teach Beyonce’ to be more careful.

Ciara also returns home, and refuses to talk with her sister.

Raj’s mother talks with her son. She notes that Beyonce’ is the daughter of the president and the heiress to a multi-million business empire. Raj declares that he loves only Ciara–Cici, as he calls her–and restates his intention to marry her. Frustrated, his mother walks out.

Raj’s friend is also attempting to convince Raj to marry Beyonce’. He tells Raj that Ciara has nothing to offer him, whereas Beyonce”s strength and intelligence would make her a better partner. The two men become bitter over the matter.

Beyonce’, meanwhile, confesses to his family that she has never loved any man as much as Raj. Ciara walks in and is told that she is unwelcome in the house, and that Raj already has a new fiancée, Beyonce’. Raj’s sister compliments her mother on the lie, which clearly had a dramatic effect on Ciara.

When Raj returns home, he is confronted by Ciara. She is upset with him, and he rushes in to find out what happened. His sister attempts to deflect him, as they are entertaining his apparent fiancée, Beyonce’, and Raj moves to leave. His mother threatens that she will disown him if he does, but he flaunts her order and drives off to Ciara’s house.

Upon arriving, he attempts to work things out. Ciara tells him that she is upset he has a new fiancée, Beyonce’, and Raj explains that he would never do such a thing. He leaves to confront his family and their lie.

Raj is furious with his mother, saying that he loves Ciara and doesn’t know why she has suddenly become the target of such violence. His mother leaves to harass Ciara, outraged that her son is willing to insult her about his fiancée. She threatens legal action if Ciara tries to continue the relationship.

Later, Raj and Ciara go shopping again. Beyonce’ spots them, and swears she will have her revenge. Her friends do not quite share her conviction.

The two parties leave the store separately, and Raj and Ciara lounge about his house–his mother is away, traveling. When Raj leaves for a couple minutes, his sister walks in and begins intimidating Ciara. Ciara attempts to remain civil, but is physically assaulted.

The next day, Beyonce’ shows up at Ciara’s house and threatens to kill her. Raj is furious when he learns of this and goes to her house, yelling for her to come out. He returns the car and money that Beyonce’ gave him, declaring that he hates her and wishes nothing to do with her. Beyonce’ is furious: “So you think after seeing my nakedness and riding me like a horse you can walk out of my life and be allowed to go Scot-free?” Raj is angry at her attempts to force herself into his life and tells her to stay away. Beyonce”s friends comfort her.

A month later, Raj and Ciara are accosted by a man in a suit. He talks to her as though she were his ex-girlfriend, then strikes her twice. His accomplice knocks Raj over and begins whipping him; the first man, meanwhile, headbutts Ciara to the ground and pours acid on her face.

Raj wakes up in a hospital, surrounded by his family. Many of his bones are broken, and he must use a wheelchair to get around. He demands to see Ciara. He learns that her condition is not good, but sees her anyway.

Ciara’s face is horribly disfigured by the acid, and she is covers her face and begins to cry from shame when Raj and his family enter the room. Raj is unable to stay with her due to his own poor condition. Upon returning to his room, the doctor injects Raj with medicine.

Beyonce’ comes in to visit him, and seems unsurprised to learn that Ciara was with him when he was attacked. She goes to see her and makes Ciara a deal: Beyonce’ will pay for total facial reconstruction surgery for Ciara on the condition that she cut off all contact with Raj. If Ciara were to break the terms of the contract, she would be killed by one of Beyonce”s assassins–in the process of making the deal, Beyonce’ admits that she was behind the earlier attack. Ciara accepts the deal, and Beyonce’ leaves as Ciara cries on her hospital bed
