The restoration of the trainees’ allowances introduced by the Akuffo Addo Government was joyfully embraced by the Ghanaian students as well as the students in the training colleges in Ghana. One of the major reasons upon which the NDC was voted against.
According to Captain Kojo Smart, it is a very good initiative to have restored the training colleges allowances by the Akuffo Addo Government but the country gains no benefits.
However, speaking on Onua TV on Monday, November 29th, he stated emphatically that disbursing these amounts of money into the account of the college students is a helpful strategy but it is rather sucking the blood of the Ghanaian economy which we have not noticed.
” I have told this Government to be extra bold to cancel the so called allawa for the teacher and nursing training students because there is no amount of benefits the Government will enjoy from that. It is only draining the country’s economy”. ” I have told him since September” He added that the need to go to school is an individual decision.
Captain Kojo Smart however said this to affirm the study of The African Foundation for Educational Development (AFFED).
The AFFED, a non-governmental organization (NGO) has asked the Government to cancel the payment of trainee allowances because, the Government is struggling to pay the allowance after accumulating arrears for six months
