A total of 79 people have been hospitalized Wednesday due to suspected food contamination in Kenema city, east of Sierra Leone.
The patients reportedly attended a graduation party on Tuesday night and started having problems after consuming some food like locally made juice, cooked rice, and a special cake made for the celebrants.
Ibrahim Kapuwa, medical superintendent of the Kenema Government Hospital told Xinhua that the patients started experiencing symptoms a few hours later and were admitted to the hospital immediately.
The food samples have been transported to the capital Freetown for a thorough examination, added Kapuwa.
Local police have commenced an investigation into the matter. Enditem
