2022 World Cup playoff: Government to involve ex-GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi in Black Stars v Nigeria games

The government of Ghana has decided to involve former Ghana Football Association [GFA] boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi for the upcoming 2022 World Cup playoff games against Nigeria.

The Black Stars will take on their rivals, the Super Eagles for a place in the Mundial later this year.

And according to a report filed by Kumasi based Kessben FM, the government is engaging Mr Nyantakyi on how to move the crucial first leg playoff game with Nigeria to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

However, following Nigeria Football Federations [NFF] protest against the Cape Coast Stadium after the country’s 65th-anniversary celebration leaves the country with little chance to stage the game at the stadium due to its poor nature.

The NFF requested that the game should be played on a neutral ground.

A team of CAF inspectors were in Kumasi on Sunday to inspect the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for what appears to be a possible change of the match venue.

According to the report, government of Ghana would want to move the game from Cape Coast to Kumasi and have contacted Mr Nyantakyi about the process of changing the match venue with barely 10 days to the game.

Government is hoping Mr Nyantakyi uses his connections and influence to help change the venue.

In other reports, the game is also likely to be moved from the Cape Coast stadium to either Benin or Morroco by CAF if the Cape Coast stadium fails to meet the requirement of CAF.
