2021 recruitment: GES hints changes in graduate teachers postings

The government agency responsible for graduate teachers postings says it will in the forthcoming recruitment process give alternatives to teachers who had sat and passed the NTC teacher licensure exams and eligible to be employed.

Commenting on the changes which take effect this year, the Director-General of Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa said teachers after selecting their preferred 3 regions will be asked a question.

According to him, graduate teachers if not posted to any of their preferred selected three regions would be asked if they are comfortable been posted to other regions where teaching vacancies are available and services needed.

“So in our next recruitment, we will ask if you will be comfortable been posted to other regions in case you miss postings to your selected 3 regions indicated on the application for recruitment form,” the GES official stated.

The Director-General said the qualified graduates on the 2021 GES recruitment application form will tick either YES or No to confirm their status adding that an extra two regions may be selected to the chosen three regions.

Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa comment comes after a newly posted teacher in an interview monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh complained he was posted to a region he did not select during last year recruitment process.

“For us it is in good faith that we post them, there may be no vacancy available at a particular region, but we don’t want them stay home, so we post them to where vacancies are available,” the Vice-chairman of WAEC Council stated
